Nerfertiti: The Most beautiful consort


 Some women are either beautiful or smart. A few like Nefertiti had both!
Who was this great beauty?
     Nefertiti was an ancient Egyptian queen who lived during the 14th century BC. She is perhaps best known for her striking beauty and her role as the wife of the Pharaoh Akhenaten. However, there is much more to Nefertiti than just her appearance or her status as a royal consort. Her life and legacy offer us a glimpse into the fascinating world of ancient Egypt and the powerful women who helped shape its history.
     Nefertiti was born in the city of Thebes, which was then the capital of Egypt. Her exact birthdate is unknown, but it is believed that she was born around 1370 BC. Her parents were not of royal blood, but Nefertiti could still rise to the highest ranks of Egyptian society through her marriage to Akhenaten. The couple is believed to have been deeply in love, and their relationship was marked by a sense of equality and partnership that was unusual for the time.

    One of Nefertiti's most enduring legacies is her role in the religious and cultural revolution that took place during her husband's reign. Akhenaten was a visionary ruler who sought to transform Egypt's traditional polytheistic religion into a monotheistic one centered around worshiping a single god, the sun disc Aten. Nefertiti played a key role in this transformation, and she is often depicted in artwork from the period as participating in religious ceremonies alongside her husband. But Nefertiti was more than just a passive participant in Akhenaten's religious reforms.
 She was also a powerful political figure in her own right, and she is believed to have wielded significant influence over her husband's decisions.

    Some scholars even argue that she may have been a co-ruler or regent during the later years of Akhenaten's reign when he became increasingly isolated and reclusive. One of the most famous depictions of Nefertiti is the bust discovered in 1912 by German archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt. The bust is now housed in the Neues Museum in Berlin, and it has become an iconic symbol of ancient Egyptian beauty and artistry. The bust shows Nefertiti with a long, elegant neck, high cheekbones, and full lips, and it is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and lifelike depictions of a person from ancient Egypt. 
    Despite her enduring fame and the many mysteries surrounding her life, much of Nefertiti's story remains shrouded in mystery. Some scholars have even suggested that she may have been erased from history by later rulers who sought to erase the memory of Akhenaten's revolutionary reign. Nevertheless, Nefertiti remains a fascinating figure whose legacy continues to captivate scholars and the general public alike. Her beauty, her power, and her role in shaping ancient Egypt's history make her a true icon of the ancient world

         Wow, I cannot believe that there were women commanders in the war between the ancient Greeks and the ancient Persians! Shocker! In the ancient world where women are supposed to be married by the time, they are fifteen and are supposed to be barefoot pregnant , one woman defied society’s norm and took part in the war for ancient Greek independence and her name was Artemisia of Caria. And no, she did not fight on the side of the Greeks. I am not sure that if she wanted to fight with them that the army officials would have let her. Who was this warrior queen of Greek descent that allied with the Persian empire? Artemisia was most probably named after the Greek goddess of hunt Artemis.
